Standard Salmon Faverolles
Standard Salmon Faverolles have a very stocky appearance. They have ear muffs and beards. The comb is single with five points. They also have five toes on each foot instead of four like most chickens. They are feathered legged, but not as much as Cochins.The roosters and hens are very differently colored. The male has a black beard, breast, and underneath with straw colored hackle, back, and saddle. Rich golden on the wing with a white at the tips. Tail is beetle green and leg feather black. Underfluff should be slate gray. The hens color range from pink salmon to copper salmon on the hackle, back, and wing. With creamy white from the beard to the vent and an overall slate gray under fluff. They are known as a utility breed because of there table qualities and great egg laying in the winter months, now they are known as a show fowl and are rare in the United States. They are extremely beautiful birds. They are extremely docile and friendly. The roosters are gentle with there hens. The roosters weigh 8lbs and the hens weigh 6 1/2lbs. They lay tinted to cream-colored eggs. The Salmon Faverolles are threatened.
