Bantam Cochins. Cochins came to the US for the first time in about 1845, at that time they were known as Chinese Shanghai fowl. They have become very popular. There are now many colors to choose from, in bantam or standard varieties. Colors in my flock are Black Mottled, Mille Fleur, and Calico. Cochins love to go broody and make wonderful mothers. They make excellent pets, because they have a great disposition. They are a very friendly breed of chicken. They lay a brown egg. When at maturity a males weight is 32oz and females is 28oz.
